Mack and I met when we were in our first year at Georgian College. We ended up living on the same floor just doors down from each other. I hosted a party the first weekend into school and Mack decided to crash it with a grocery bag full of beer. We both agree it was love at first sight and we have been inseparable ever since.

From day one, things felt so natural between the both of us. We clicked right away over our love of sports, sports and more sports, and we have never run out of stats to talk about. Since we finished school, we have moved around together, tackled long distance, traveled down south, attended many NHL games in the US and Canada and became best friends through it all.

One day Mack told me we were going to visit a friend for a house warming party. It was raining, so on our way we stopped to get (cheesy) matching umbrellas. The drive took us past Irish Mountain Lookout – our favourite spot - and Mack suggested we stop. I turned to take a picture of the gorgeous view, and when I turned back around, Mack was on one knee, and asked me to be his “forever and for always”! I said “yes” before he could even finish his sentence. He had planned the whole thing, and even had a photographer waiting at the lookout to capture the proposal.

We researched plenty of options for a venue but The Falls Inn was our obvious choice. We had spent a Valentine’s Day there, so it was already special to us. As Meg showed us around the location, we fell in love with it all over again.

On our big day, we wanted to showcase our love as a couple, and our love for our families and friends. We both wanted to write our own vows, and it was important to us to make every detail a reflection of our 4 years together. We wanted every guest to feel loved that day and to share in our love.

Mack played a huge role in the planning of the day and was involved in every detail right down to the flowers. He made our wedding programs, favour cards, and thank you cards for his groomsmen. We agreed on every detail of the day. My creative sisters brought our vision to life with decorations, hand written signs and the floral arrangement for the arbour.

We started out very organized, but as the weeks flew by, suddenly our family was arriving from all over and our organization was out the window! Despite all the last-minute running around, nothing stressed us out. All that mattered was that we would be married the next day.

The morning of the wedding I was surprized by how relaxed I was. No stress, just pure excitement. I watched the set up of the reception from the window of the stunning bridal suite at the Inn as I got ready. Mack spent the morning relaxing with his groomsmen and our family.

The day after the wedding felt like a dream. We spent the first part of honeymoon at The Rosseau Resort in Muskoka and chose to spend the second half in Chicago for the Blackhawks and Leaf’s home opener. Of course, the couple who chose to end their wedding night with everyone dancing and singing to the “Hockey Song”, would have an NHL game included in their honeymoon.

Mack always says the moment he first saw me as his bride, on the bridge on top of the falls, was his favourite moment of the day. Personally, the moments when Mack read his vows, and then hearing them announce us as “Mr. & Mrs.”, were my favourite. Sharing that with the most important people in our lives all together is something we will always be grateful for.
