I met John through my sister.  They had met back in 2000 at a concert in Washington State and a few years later, John moved to Southern Georgian Bay where they ran into each other again.  A couple years later, John and I connected, began dating and we’ve been together ever since.

We both love back country camping and on a weekend in September 2010 we decided to take a little get away to Killarney Provincial Park.  The setting was so romantic and I couldn’t imagine a more special place for John to propose – “yes” was my only answer!

When the planning began, we knew that we wanted our wedding to be local as well as to have our ceremony and reception in the same location.  We chose our venue based on its charm and intimate setting; perfect to host our evening wedding.  As we continued further into our planning it was important to us that our wedding reflect us.  Our love of the outdoors led us to our decor theme to resemble an outdoor garden wedding.  We accomplished this with lots of greenery, mini twinkle lights, and a birch bark arbour.  We also had really unique invitations with an outdoor camping theme designed for us. We chose red as our accent colour and we had a lot of fun with it! I wore red high-heel shoes; we had gorgeous red flowers and bouquets; and we cruised around in my Dad's '68 candy apple red mustang!

The ceremony was a focal point to our planning as we really wanted it to be personal and meaningful. Having two of our friends play the piano, guitar and sing songs that we personally selected were very special. We also had our Moms bring us our wedding bands during the ceremony and we had John's Dad do a special reading. We had amazing food, a great dance, a photo booth with fun props and really delicious cupcakes as a wedding cake.

When it came to divvying out the planning duties we talked about everything throughout the year leading up to the wedding and divided them up as we went along.  We were also very fortunate to have a great deal of help from our family and friends.

When I saw everything come together the day before the wedding, I felt so happy and excited. It was exactly what I had pictured and wished for it to be. On the day of the wedding, I felt ecstatic! It was so wonderful to have our family and friends there with us; we both felt like we were floating on a cloud all day! So much love, happiness, and positive energy; we were on top of the world!  The day after the wedding, we were so happy to be done with the planning and preparing but we both wished that our special day hadn't gone by so quickly! We were left with so many great memories!  It was the best day of our lives.
