Jacqueline & Scott's Wedding

Updated: Sep 21, 2023

It all started one night Scott decided to host a poker night with his Scotch Group. I (Jacqueline) was invited to deal cards and serve drinks, which I did not do. Instead, I sat down at the table and proceeded to play cards with the group. About five minutes in, Scott stopped the conversation mid-sentence amongst the group and turned to me to how we had not met before — we both knew there was an instant connection.

We fell fast, and after about four months of dating, we decided to take a trip to Cuba together. We became inseparable upon returning home.

Scott proposed at Craigleith Ski Club on Family Day weekend. We went for a hike up one of the trails in the afternoon and when we arrived at a scenic point, we stopped to take a photo. We posed together as Scott’s mother took our photo, with Georgian Bay spanning behind us. When I turned to look at Scott, he was down on one knee with a small box in his hand. I don’t remember exactly what he said, I was so excited. But I do know that I said YES several times before he had a chance to even open the box and pull out the ring!

Deciding where we would get married was easy. Scott and his family have been members at Craigleith for years, and I recently become a member as well. It’s a warm and beautiful that place we spend a lot of time at in the winter. After Scott proposed there, it felt like a no-brainer!

We knew we wanted our wedding to be full of warmth and love and spend it surrounded by friends and family. We wanted it to be fun for everyone, and of course we had to showcase Scott’s love of fishing! Leading up to the wedding we were full of emotions: excited, nervous, and very giddy. We couldn’t wait to get married, but neither of us like being the centre of attention. Our wedding day was filled with excitement and emotion and of course it went off without a hitch. We felt like we were on Cloud Nine the whole day after!

We couldn’t believe how incredible our wedding was from start to finish, and that we were finally married. We’ll never forget the moment we first caught each other’s eye when the ceremony began.
